McDonald's is no longer using the controversial ground beef filler known as "pink slime," according to reports. That's the good news you can take out of this.
The bad? That crap was in all the ones you already ate.
Pink slime is not its real name, but it might actually sound more appetizing than the ingredients ... spare beef trimmings treated with ammonium hydroxide.
Delish.

The ammonium hydroxide is used to kill any bacteria in the trimmings. As revolting as it sounds, the additive is approved by the Department of Agriculture.
McDonald's move comes after celebrity TV chef Jamie Oliver brought it to public attention and vocally made calls for the restaurant chain to stop using it.
The company denied that its decision was influenced by Oliver, saying it stopped using the product months ago and had discussed dropping it for a year.
Either way, you may now return to eating at McDonald's ... if you want. The mere thought of pink slime may be sticking to your memory for awhile.

'Pink Slime' is the first short story written about the subject. I wrote and published a couple weeks ago. Using a fictional investigative reporter whose lunch was ruined by the disclosure of its content, it provides a vehicle to fully unveil the truth -- much more than has been in the press. Available electronically from Amazon, B&N, and Smashwords, it is easily available and you can preview it. Just type in Pink Slime on any of those book sellers and it'll pop up. PinkSlime dot us is another route.

HEY, THE BURGERS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN TASTY AND CHEAP. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. IF YOU WANT A GOURMET BURGER, AT A GOURMET RESTAURANT, BE PREPARED TO PAY A FORTUNE, AND DON'T FORGET THE GRATUITY. I'LL STICK WITH THE "SLIME," HAVEN'T GOTTEN SICK YET.

It is totally revolting to add such an ingredient, of which we have no idea what its main parts are composed of. However it’s wrong to feed this to our kids knowing that it could cause major obesity.

This has been something we were all aware of... And when a celebrity makes it known its more of an issue. Mcdonalds has been doing this for years and haven't lost any money. I still love me a Big Mac!

mcds burgers taste so good to me but as was said before it really doesnt taste like real ground beef like when u grill it at home on ur own. Mcds burgers are softer... Even kinda mushy. I jus dnt kno y they cant jus use regular ground beef and nt add shit to it. Of course nowadays even meat is tainted wit chemicals. No wonder kids are so overweight today.

Ever notice that a McDonalds (or even BK for that matter) hamburger never really tastes like hamburger meat you cook at home? And yet, we still pour into these outlets in droves and fill up on God knows what! I am guilty of this also, and I admit, this information will probably not curb my habits that much, but isn't it apalling that we as a society, are willing to tolerate such behavior not only from the restaurant, but the government agencies that allow it? We have become so brain-dead, we just sit back and take it.
