Instead, Kelly Clarkson simply did what she did best prior to Super Bowl XLVI tonight: she showed off an incredible voice, clocking in the national anthem at just under one minute and 34 seconds (for those of us who may or may not have wagered on its length).

She absolutely nailed it. Best rendition I've ever heard. Kelly always does everyone proud and you can count on her to give an amazing performance every time.

The Star Spangled Banner should be sung with an upbeat. It it not a dirge, not to be drug out. It symbolizes our finest moment in history up to that point, the mightiest nation on earth could'nt knock her down. Yes, Carrie Underwood, prior to the Bears shellacing at the hands of the Panthers in '06 playoffs... The best.

i am a big kelly clarkson fan, but the song left me limp. i wish she would have done it like cher and whitney, with full orchestration, and pre-taped for the best sound. her way just sounded too somber and, frankly, boring.

MY OPINION I THOUGHT THE CHOIR SAVED HER. SHE YODDLED THE SONG, LIKE REAL COUNTRY. LETS GET SOMEONE WHO CAN SING IT THE WAY IT SHOULD BE SUNG AND NOT RAPPED,COUNTRY ETC. FAITH HILL CAN SING IT BEAUTIFULLY.

I had forgotten that Clarkson has a stipulation in her contract to only show her from the neck up. She didn't want the tv viewers to see those hips and cankles.
